Why Some People Cannot Learn
Have you ever tried to teach someone? Later you found out that all your words have been neglected and disappeared to God knows where. Why some people cannot learn?
You tried to advise someone and they are still doing exactly the same thing afterwards.
I have plenty of experience like these. Do you know why?
- they disagree with you, but they don’t want to tell you.
- they disagree with you, but your reasoning is extremely logical. They don’t know how to debate with their own opinion.
- they agree with you and they could not change the way they do things.
- they don’t know what you are talking about, but they pretended to be listening.
In the past, I do not know why people act this way, especially in the scenarios 1,2 and 4. After I have done a lot of think, then I started to understand.
It is something relating to our behaviour and our belief system. There is something called “pride” in every one of us. Some people have more and some have less. The more pride we have, the harder for us to learn. Until the point that you will be labelled as “unteachable”.
How does pride relate to learning?
When we are children, we have no problem learning new things. Children have very little or no pride in them – at the beginning. Since they don’t know anything, so if you say to them, “Kid, you don’t know anything.” They would accept your word with no problem.
If you say the same thing to an adult, “Man, you don’t know anything.” Ninety-nine percent of the time, you will upset the person you are talking to – except if you are talking to me.
Pride prevent someone from learning new things. It is because if you have to learn something new or learn a new way of doing things. The first thing that you have to do is to admit that you don’t know or admit that your way of doing things is not the best. Once you did that then you will be able to accept new knowledge.
It hurts our pride to admit we are ignorant. That is why some people could not learn for they have too much pride. They could not put down their pride and tell you that they don’t know. Especially if that is something very simple.
My dear readers, do not let pride hinder you from learning more. The more you learn and the better your are. You will be more knowledgeable and you will be smarter.
I want to ask you a question. There are two guys, one is a businessman and he make a lot of money every day. The other guy is a factory worker, the pay he takes home is just enough to get by. What is the difference between these two men? Why one pay so much and the other so little?
The answer is simple. The businessman has the knowledge and he knows how to make money. You see how important knowledge is.
Put down your pride, throw it away and a better life will come to you. Admit your shortcomings and learn something new everyday. You will be rewarded.
I told you what I found in The Bible – Proverb. It said, “if you give knowledge to the fool, they will scoff at you. If you give knowledge to a wiseman; he will thank you for it.”
