If I am a Christian
If I am a Christian, I will go to church every week and learn how to be a better person. Instead of asking God to give and provide for me, I would use my strength and resources to help others.
The God who made me is a perfect being – he is brave, kind and loving. When God made me, he had already given me everything that I need. I did not only make in his image, but he has already instilled in me bravery, moral and also compassion.
“I am sinful, I am weak and I am useless,” if I told God. I would be insulting my all powerful God who are absolutely perfect in every way. Just as if you told a carpenter, the chair that he made is far from perfect. You told him that his chair cannot function properly – you would be insulting his skill. We cannot insult God in this way and tell him that he had created an inferior or sub-standard product.
I knew that the Bible said that we are born sinners, but I don’t believe it. Please refer to my other post Are We Born Sinners? I personally do not believe everything written in the Bible are correct, there are lots of evident you can find on the internet which will give you an insight. Someone could have modified the Bible to suit their own agenda.
It is illogical. An all mighty and perfect God would never make something so bad, so weak, so useless. If you believe you are sinful, you are not made by God. Perhaps you are made by Satan, and God tries to convert you to his teachings.
I know the story of Adam and Eve, they have sinned. Jesus Christ had died for us and our sins have already been cleansed. Also, it is illogical to say that our God who has so much compassion would hold a grudge for eternity.
So what kind of Christian I am?
Instead of going to church and pray to God to give me things that I need. I would give and help other people. Here are the things that I would do.
- I would give my money to the poor.
- I would help the sick and the weak.
- I would love everyone in this world as my brothers and sisters.
- I would teach others to follow the Ten Commandments.
- I would teach other people about morality according to Jesus’s teaching.
- I would improve myself and be a better person every day, until the day I die. I am already good and I want to be better.
- I would not care if I can go to heaven or not. For I have done my best and I have no regrets. I believed the goal of being a Christian is to follow the example of Jesus, going to heaven is not my goal. (I do good because of it is the right thing to do and not because of I want an eternal life.)
Here is a chapter in the Bible which can summaries my feeling to God, and also I do not need anything else from God. (Psalms 23:1 – 6)
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me: your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
I don’t just worship inside of a church. My church is among the people. Just as Jesus who preached everywhere and help people everywhere he went.
I believed we are here in this world to love. We will find happiness when we understand this. Materials and money will not give us long term happiness, but love will. If you don’t have the love for anyone, I feel sorry for you. You have missed the most wonderful thing that makes us human.
Do you know why we love to see pictures of people and places? You might not realize this – it is because we have the love for this world and all the people. Do you agree with me that we live in a beautiful world?
I would pray to my God, “Thank you, LORD, for making me and instilled in me all the goodness you possesses. I will follow your examples and live a life with LOVE. Amen.”
